OK, so I'm just updating the thread here Sunday afternoon.
Looks like Jamaica is in for a bit of a blow, and thoughts and and prayers go to the people there. There has been very tight agreement with the computer models and there's really no reason to trust that Dean will continue on a W slightly NW track. Intensity forecasts remain pretty scary, keeping this thing a major hurricane until it hits land. The forecast track looks like this thing will hit the Yucutan, dissipate and re intensify as it hits water again, then making landfall somewhere south of Texas. This track really isn't great for waves anywhere. Maybe there will be a short period of action along the Panhandle, or if you're super desperate, Texas. But who travels to Texas for waves?
Since the pressure has dropped a good bit, the pressure gradient will tighten locally and winds should be up for most Sunday and Monday. Should be some ridable chop. Take what you can get in August.

Ok, first a shameless plug to buy your tixs for Surfrider's upcoming Movie Fundraiser. Quiksilver has graciously provided Young Guns 3 for us to premiere and it has some mind boggling, cutting edge footage. Y'all know we need resources to do the good things we do, we try and give you a quality stoke in return for helping us protect things important to you.
Chef Pete along with Mike Adams are cooking up Bali inspired Indian curry delectables, beer and wine served too. Help us help our surf community, download the flyer - spread the word and come enjoy a cool evening of surfing eyeball candy. Ok, shameless plug over - now for the REALLY good news...

Hi, I'll write some more about this later when I have some more time. But I wanted to let you know about the top list of active tropical storms. I'll be cleaning this up a bit, but right now, the thing updates off the NHC feed every 15 minutes. I'll pretty it up a bit, but just wanted to get you the data as it comes in.

Pete called it! Whenever Surfrider hosts a movie the surf gods smile our way. Hopefully the growing monster on the WW3 (check the W. North Atlantic regular view link in the 1st comment) doesn't make us ground zero but... GOD we need waves! Buy your tixs now and appease the surf gods!!!!
