What: FT. LAUDERDALE BEACH - North Beach – Lifeguards and the addition of metered parking on A1A. Commissioners gave tentative approval to metering the last strip of free beachfront parking, the 250 spaces on A1A north of Sunrise Boulevard. A final vote is expected May 1, 2007.
Where: Ft. Lauderdale City Commission Meeting
When: Tuesday, May 1, 2007, 6:00 PM, Ft. Lauderdale City Hall (The time this agenda item will be before the commission is unknown. The agenda will be published Thursday, April 26, 2006. We will keep you posted)

Exciting times for Surfrider right now! Come join in discussions and presentations about the FL Open Beaches Act and Clean Oceans Bill. Both have made it to the final weeks of legislative session and will be moving to the House and Senate floor this coming week to be voted on for enactment into law.
As well we've got a slideshow of pics from our recent Baynanza Beach Clean-Up in Bal Harbour. HUGE news from the State Secretary of Transportation regarding our issues with parking closures that affected Harbour House.

Pesky winds, we had light offshores till 4 am untill someone started turning on the onshore fan. At least we may get ridable chop down here tomorrow. I opted out of an upcoast trip this morning. Others who went will be reporting later of which I will post here.
