Never fails, we have a successful Surfrider event and WHAM! 3 days of Clean swell here in Miami and more just up-coast!
Forecast is for dying swell with windchop filling in as the week progresses. Winds today still NW. Here are a few pictures of Miami Saturday morning. Thanks Karen!

Had a blast surfing Saturday with the friends at Jeane Street. Thanks for sharing trading off on the waves. Now that was a session! peace and progress!
Thanks for calling, punky. :-P Have fun in Costa too!
Heard Juno still super fun early this morning. Don't know what is doing now.
delray and boca were real fun this morning too!
Has anybody seen any pictures from last Friday or Saturday at SB? The surf was phenomenal both days, but specially on Saturday from dawn until about 8:30am!!!! Solid overhead sets, light crowd, caught more waves in those 2 hrs than I did all day Friday and Sunday combined. The early bird gets the worm! It paid off to get my aching, tired body up at 5am on Sat.
Here's my pics from Saturday. Looks like I just missed the bombs that FLA Surfer caught on his site.

Pick 4 and 5 is one heavy wave! Feel sorry for the poor b@stard who got caught in that one.
These are some great shots of Saturday morning.

Real nice shots AJ. Rob I stole you gallery and sent it to all my FB friends. AJ I did the same.
peace and progress!
ARRARArarrrrrrggghhhhh!, Back 2 Work
Fun last 3 days, way over due and glad everyone got some.
How many drove North only to see pics of SouthBeach?, I KNOW!!!!! me too, Surfed Perkins/ RCs practically everyday.
L8r!
AJ. I didn't see THE WAVE in those pictures. For all who weren't there, AJ caught what most thought to be the wave of the day on Sat, somehow negotiated what looked like an impossible drop (specially on a longboard), got completely barreled and came out clean. I got a great view as I had caught a wave just prior, was paddling back out and got hammered by the wave he was on. Great to watch. Great shots, which brings me to another question.....who took the picks?
I'm interested in having a photog shoot a session of me and my friends during the next good swell. Anyone interested can shoot me an email to bb0175@hotmail.com with details, pricing, etc.
Can you guys put the pics up in the gallery? I dont have facebook.
I want to see some of saturday....I know i was on a couple of those ejector seat barrels..
Made some and got completely pitched on others.Ahhh the memories!!!
Great weekend of waves in SoFL. Looks like a little wind chop for this weekend. Anybody looking for a nice 6'6" rocket fish. Let me know. surfboardsmiami@yahoo.com
Never waxed!

Vans triple crown from Haleiwa still off, should have held it in Florida where we actualy have surf , what are the chances of that happening again.
Posted some pics up at f1rstshop.com from this weekends swell fest. Thanks to Mattroyphotography.com for the pics. If anyone see some pics of themselves and would like to purchase a large copy, Hit us up at the shop or hit up Matthew Roy directly at his link listed above.

Just checked it, ankle high shore break, wind starting to texture it though
4 day event with offshores and beautiful water=are you kidding me? Sweet pictures of SOBE. Definitely would love to see more pictures posted of this event both locally and upcoast. The ones I have seen of PBC so far do not do it justice... Later
Sick pictures-especially of the sequence of you AJ- don't know you but happy for you...That must be the wave that Truth is referring to??
Just got back from 2 weeks in Costa, caught some good waves at Playa Grande, stayed right next to "Una Ola" called " La Marejada" really nice people especially one of the owners Gail was very welcoming and made us feel at home, then we hit Santa Teresa and Mal Pais/ Playa Carmen, Friday was epic, chest to overhead and offshore all day! we also did an amazing canopy tour in Monteverde, they had a 1KM long and 590 ft. off the ground canopy and you could do it superman style! freaking amazing!, Hoping the local crew who just left recently catches it firing too! pics coming soon

More swell today in Brevard. Looks like it is going to be fun with the lower tide later. Looks pretty consistent too.
mwatson, why did Surfline undercall the entire swell event in both, size and quality? To my recollection, Surfline said mostly 2-4 feet and some days 3-5 feet, but pretty much most days poor/fair conditions in So. FL yet most live reports from the PB's came back as shoulder/head - overhead sets and good, clean conditions with pictures to prove it.
Just wondering, or is my recollection wrong?...
No - the written FC was for 3-4 for the whole event with head high sets and the standout spots coming in a notch larger. I believe most of the rating was 'Fair.' Models undercalled but that is why they are called models and not 'ground truth'.
We probably could have gone 4-5' with 1' overhead sets in the FC and that would have been a little better for the upcoast spots. It just depends on where you were at and what time you were there.
Condition rating is a tough call. It is for the whole region as an average. We know that some spots are better than others and will also be bigger due to shoaling/refraction.
You have to understand how incredibly difficult it is to get the exact bullseye especially when swell/conditions vary so much in space and time for the SFL coast. SFL is the one of the most difficult places on the EC if not the world to forecast so it is my opinion that it is better to be conservative - underpomise/overdeliver so to speak.
call was right on yea a few places were a little better but most spots were 3 to 4 feet with some bigger waves. dont worry mike you guys r the best in the biz.
yea dont mean to brown noze either but its was on the money
Mike Watson(tks for your services to the surfing community),
Agreed with you, I've been living here in Soflo since 1991 back in the days of 1800 976 SURF. Indeed hardest coast to forecast and due to this pecularity can offers us amazing range of surf. I can say the forecasting has improved tremendously, I attribute that speacially to the acceptance notion of El Nino and La Nina. Back in the early 90's it was more of a myth then true science and this winter we can attribute all of this amazing surf due to El Nino (Low north PR and DR) squezzing the ingredients. Correct me if I am wrong plz.
Obs. South Florida surfers are the real Wave Hunters!
Agree with MW on this one. Forecasting SFL is tough and perhpas not that exciting as we really don't get the goods and when we get them it is never truly epic. As such waking up just to post flat conditions 60% of the year and even worse in extreme sfl can make the job somewhat tough. IMO we have to be extemely grateful that someone even bothers to post us...
playa grande def gets good. happy to hear u scored. santa t and malpais are fun areas as well although i prefer the NW pacific surf-wise. but st and malpais are a more "hip" area with a great variety of rest's and people
We just received shipment of The Drifter at the shop. Come by and check it out. It's definitely worth a purchase, Rob Machado+Goofyfoot+Bali = Timeless footage.

This is the longest/cleanest swell in the history of SFL, waves were still offshore this morning at juno pier.
Hurricane Gordon, November 1994.....two weeks of surf, mostly clean except for some chunky SE chop when the cane first made land fall in west Fl. Check out the track on NHC website (I haven't figured out how to paste pictures here). The cane first hit west florida, came accross and exited near the Melbourne area slowly heading NE. It then made a loop just east of the Carolinas and came back towards florida, giving us days of clean hurricane swell and offshore winds.
This past week with the surf from the remnants of IDA has been an event to remember as well though.....
This was the year that a surfer died surfing Haulover (i don't remember his name but it was on the news) during the Gordon swell. Very unfortunate.
WOW, SICK PIC'S FOR SB. well I'm new to the sight and wanted to say i started checken the sight out when BILL was comen to town and was looken for a sight with input and comments of the coming swell as i was HYPED OUT OF MY SKIN for the swell that was headed our way. i really dialed into this sight, looken for comments on the possibility of getting swell through the SLOT {which never really happened} and found this sight to be vary insightful and cool, so, wanted to say what's up, and stay cool, and although im not much for posting,, and {typing} lol. i'll be around. PEACE!!! YA, I'M A LOCAL,... WHERE EVER I PADDEL OUT!!! LOL
Here's more pics for you guys that weren't able to view on FB. And for those that could, I added 5 more. Looks like I was late for the biggest waves of the day...

Some more pics...
I took em with my camera phone friday at dusk, so not the best quality.
saturday?
This AM in NPB was still around waist to chest high on occ. Super clean and fun till tide filled in. This swell is like the energizer bunny. Looks like its fading through the day.
You need a new headline for this strand. It's been flat down south for days and it sucks! Whah!
should be waves up the road for a few more days
whats the call for tomorrow?
would love to catch something tomorrow morning but the tides may be in the way, will have to go up the road a bit
my uncle has a cattle ranch in okeechobee and my buddies are gonna be making a hog-hunting video over the weekend so i may dawn patrol upcoast and then shoot on over to the ranch and get my redneck on.
light winds early with an incoming tide
new swell is incoming as we speak. Might need to drive up a bit. Still surf in up in northern parts today as of AM.
For tomorrow morning, what about before the high tide, say, 7-10 am? (I went out too close to high tide on Monday morning, and whatever waves there were were breaking right on the shore. I'd like to avoid that this weekend....)
thinking upcoast-npbc- again for tomorrow as it looks that there will be some surf. BTW these last two weeks remind me of bali summers where it just pulses all summer long-never really going flat. Not trying to brag (been lucky to spend several summers in Bali over the last 10 years as I am involved in a cultural foundation there) so forgive me if it sounds like I am-just passing some insights as how sweet these last couple of weeks have really been! Moreover looks like another pulse for thanksgiving-nice way to culminate 3 weeks of nonstop surf in NPBC! Unbelievable. Any thoughts regarding tomorrow are appreciated. later all...
Pray For Surf.......to understand the ocean's greatness you have to get wet.......
As you all Know Chip has been Shaping away while we are all surfing....So if any one is interested in some Custom Boards.
I put up a little gallery for all to see.

NPC was still very rideable this AM. Not big or anything but around waist high with some bigger sets far and few between. Some chop on things making it less then stellar but hey we are in FL and this is going on day 10 or 11 of surf so I'm not complaining at all. Get on it before the tide does. opps it already did.
possible NW swell for sat? i hope so.
Joel Parko just caught one of the sickest barrels ever in Haleiwa.
http://www.triplecrownofsurfing.com/reefblog/live.php
clean conditions this am in NPBC around waist high and glassy. for those who have an iphone i downloaded an application called swell info that has managed to call the last two weeks perfectly in terms of size and wind. Just wanted to pass that on...I took a chance this am based on their call and was rewarded.
Later
swellinfo.com pretty cool, nice rec.
I would not trade up my warm water for this, but NY does get some good waves. Check out this video. I'm stoked I'll be able to surf before stuffing my face with Turkey, and burn it off the following day. Phins need to win and hope the Saints beat the Pat's this Sunday. Cause on Dec. 6 we play the Pat's on Sunday Night Football. Biggest game of the year! http://www.swellinfo.com/video/index.html?play=925
Truth, you're gonna love this!
