Whooo hooo! we got waves coming. Before you get too excited remember that these cold front scenario's are difficult to predict swell wise. Especially when it comes to those bounce/refracto type ridables. First real cold front of the season. First we have Offshore (West winds) turning NW sometime Sat. NWS is calling for 15-20 knt NW winds up the coast. Some chance of Refractory material but I would call it iffy at best. Sunday morning worth a check if the wind blows all night. The other factor is posssible N/NW swell from the low off NE and the fetch . Even though the fetch is elongated, the models don't put it wide enough or staying in place for very long (actually kinda racing NE) . Still worth keeping an eye and ear out . Its N enough to possible sneak in down here but we all know how infrequent those are (Thats why we call them sneaker swells). Best bet for surf is the wind choporama coming Mon/Tues/and possibly Wed. The winds will clock around N-NNE-NE but likely won't go too E. Models calling for 15-20 kts maybe a tad higher. W'ell have to just wait and see. At least locally things will wake up a bit. NE wc is not exactly my favorite but what the hey, beggars can't be chosers. I'll be frothing at mouth soon.
Enjoy
Sorry I've taken so long to put up a forecast, just haven't really had anything to talk about since the early cane season.
Did you go to Santa Cruz? I was there on Sunday at it was FLAT! Probably the only day of the year, that happened.
Ha Ha!
peace and progress!
Just wanted to let everyone know that Ekolu Kalama is arriving today from Hawaii and will be at the SUP race in Coral Gables tomorrow, the Battle of the Bridges. He was invited last minute, but has decided to stay through next weekend for the amazing swell we're going to get! Actually, he wanted to play some of his music and check out the local scene while he's here. So if anyone is throwing a nice house party, BBQ, Luau, or owns a club/bar/restaurant and would like to host a live performance of Hawaiian Soul sounds, please hit me up. 877-971-SURF
If anyone wants to hear his music, send me an email and I'll send you a couple of tracks. I'll throw a BBQ for him next weekend at North Beach probably and will invite all to come out and jam. Some friends in the Broward/PB area are working on hosting him up there at a local club, but it would be cool to have Dade show some Aloha. Too bad he can't stay through the movie night on the 6th and too bad he didn't get here last night to hang with the boys from F1rst at the Burgers and Beer.
So if you see a big Hawaiian guy doing 360s on a SUP, you know who it is. Ekolu is all Aloha so feel free to make friends.
Aloha to all!

YES!!!, so over due around here
That is an awesome website Machapu
definitely something to consider for a new experience in Surf Travel,
I love CR and Nica, but have been going for a cpl decades now, was thinking El Salvador or. . ., I'm just such a floridiot, I'm not one for cold water
Nothing a little methane VAPOR in my VAPOR won't fix I hope.
Gump, yea last week was small in Santa Cruz. I only surfed the waning moments of the weekday swell. By Sat /Sun it was toast. A friend told me a few spots North of San Fran were firing Sat/Sun but thats too North and too cold even for me.
Take a look at the latest quickscat. Notice the low and how close to the coast it is. Pretty much on par with the modeling

a few of these would be nice right now

The Pacific is having a wicked hurricane season. 18 named storms so far. Not that it helps us, but...
At least we got the potential refracto then wind chop. WAM Models are indicating moderate/strong swell during the onshores too - around Monday.
Finally, some new South Beach surf shots. About time!
What are the chances this will sneak up on everyone and the lineup will be sparse?
Woke up at 5 am by a palm tree hitting my townhouse. That only happens with fairly brisk NW winds. Sure enough , got up checked the winds on the buoys and the are blowing pretty damn good, Canaveral too WNW early but everything is in place for the hard to predict bounce action ridables. I'll be reporting early if I can. Should be ridable sometime this morning.
saw what u saw pete. my concern is that the winds didnt blow hard enough to give sobe enough size to beat the fat tide. my call would be palm beach. any thoughts?
oh also, local winds are nnw. in pbc, nw. def something to consider
Probably right, Palm Beach a much better bet. Winds are clocking to the North Pretty fast.
Just got a text from a friend who lives on the beach (17st), says it looks like a lake. Doesn't mean sowbe can't have a ridable but then again....
Thanks pete, Im reading this with my boardshort and keys on hand, surfline as yourself points out that NOT YET as if it would happen later on...
conch cam showing some action
small lines in the PB's. Winds on Fowey are HONKING! N/NW 28-31 knots Low tide today is around 2:30pm My guess is any building pattern will happen during the afternoon tide switch to incomming. If it stays small, there's always kiteboarding!
NMB unridable winchop. I agree that maybe something will roll in with tide change. Bummer
Yep, saw the same thing PanamaD...looks like there's something trying to build underneath, but the tide is way too high right now...
My surfa teacha (Masta Wyeeta) say - "no go north fo wind chop"
Staya here. ya?
Just picked up my board from Cshapes. He glassed and hot coated an old repair that was leaking. Very good finish. I'll report in a year how it holds up. Today, I will be in the SE USA around low tide. Report to follow. Pulled out the old wet suit today. No smell so good said the wife.
Plenty of surf in NBC. Chop on it, but it's chest high on sets. Warm water and waves!
just checked out sobe cam looks like a nice clean bump, anyone check it in the past 30min?

Incoming tide this afternoon if the wind doesn't go NE...could be fun.
Anybody looking for a good used SUP. I have a 10'6" Oxbow Pilot I need to move for $650. Wife rode it for 6 months. Nice board. Email me: surfboardsmiami@yahoo.com
surfed juno today. Got there at 9:30 and the high tide was choking it and when it was breaking it was kind of closing out. Waited it out and the patiemce paid as it got good around 11 am. chest + on sets and a few larger sets broke unridden as nobody was in position... overall pretty happy as the water was still warm and the day beautiful.. a few observations: 1. Although I like surfing with my friends my favorite thing to do is solo roadtrips from start to finish. Just don't get free time (family and kids) so these solo road trips are incredibly therapeutic... 2. I love October cold fronts as the water is still very warm and they always seem to bring the goods...3. When in doubt pack and drive-we are 1:30 from npb and the drive is almost always (95%) worth it. Anyhow knee worked well (had surgery in the spring) and just had fun again in the water... Later all!
Nice long lines in South Palm Beach County. Chest high sets filtering down the beach. Surfed for hours with no one out. Greg, snooze you lose.
Xavi, I agree 100%. I did the same thing today except I hit North Jetty for Hi tide. This trip for me was very therapeutic. I myself have 3 boys, wife, a business and it felt good to have the day all for myself. Fun til about 2:30 when the lo tide messed it up. Strong drift towards the jetty with NNW winds but many makeable rights & lefts.
SPB had a couple shoulder high freak sets before dark. 15 min. between sets. Got my best wave in a least a year.
Both Cnaveral buoys are way up since this morning. Winds are strong N on the 120 and strong N/NW on the 20 with seas in the 8+ range on the 20 and 10+ range on the 120. It's no wonder you saw some larger sets at dark. I'd be keeping an eye out for tomorrow a.m. locally and/or the PB's with N/NW in the a.m. before shifting.
Got to the beach (CPB) just before lunch time to find sweet long left coming in. Surfed my favorate spot south of RR with a hand full of people and waves in chest to head high as the afternoon unrolled. Super long, long lefts and clean conditions. With warm water to boot. Sweeeeet!!
I was at South at dark flying a kite (Kiteboard training) It was pretty flat but a few rogue waves came in. Meter maid (acually a guy) told me I would get a ticket for having my license plate covered (have a light smoked cover bought at an auto parts store to thwart tag thieves). Looks like they are looking for new ways to increase revenue so be forewarned, they will be there the second the meter clicks into overtime.
Xavi, glad you got some waves and your knee held up well. I love solo sessions myself.
Even delray was good today, had a lot of fun with some waist to chest after noon today. I needed it.
My DadeCo Surf Brothas,
Started at Deerfield this afternoon around 4 - waist plus.
Headed north to Spanish River waist to chest solid.
Kept going until I got to Anchor Park in Delray and that was the call! Chest to shoulder with bigger sets and if you paddled north 300 yards you get to where it was OH on the big sets. Crowd was manageable for except for the idiot local that dropped in on me on a large set and when I called him off he tried to shoot his board at me. He missed!
Tomorrow early DP could be epic up there if it doesn't hit here. It felt amazing to get such good waves with warm water!!!

Did anyone surfed boca? I think my little 99 honda civic is driving me towards the upcoast goodies. Really had a blast in boca from 7 til 9ish. Set peaks were ripable and workable all the way to the inside. Lefts most of all. There were some ripper kids on the line up KILLING IT. Fun to surf with them at BOCA.
Wind blew NNW all night in the 20+ range and NOTHING at Sow Beiatch as of 6:30am. My boy Def pointed out the location of the Gulf Stream as to why this didn't make it down so far, if it makes it at all before the wind goes NE to E.
Ey, mon, gotta go ta work!! Holla...
lol @ ppl overcalling the size of the waves yesterday
Some lines coming through in MIA, but tide is waaaaay high. Probably waist with + sets. If the wind don't kill it, should improve with the outgoing tide.
Mr. W is right on the $ about central palm beaches yest. W, to bad i missed you, we got up there too late (about 2 p.m. but stayed till dark surfing 2 diff spots). my only compliant was the amount of bait fish in the water & greys naturally following them around. i got caught in the middle of a huge school w/ a 4 footer swimming too close. hate that b/c i always freak about paddeling out of the school. otherwise, super fun day!!!
SI looks good today - wats sobe like?
There are waves locally,
"Waitin' for the tide to get low"
SI looks horrible, winds are blowing out of the NE up there (I got HD cam access with Surfline). I work 5 min from SB so I will get a visual during lunch and post a report shortly after 1pm.
must have been the pic i saw on the home page
Hay Rob, he was killing me too with his I'll be there in 20 minutes every 10 minutes. We ended up getting there (south PBC)about 10:30 and surfed until 6 with a 2 hour lunch break. Real fun crusey waves, chest to waist with a few bigger,maybe. Looooooooooooooong lefts connecting to the inside. Got some good conditioning having to paddle all the way back out to the line up top meet another set. Only anout 20 people spread out. Greg and I had 2 peaks to our selves!Glad you go tthe goos too!
HA! GREAT DAY, one of my best sessions. Slept like a baby!
peace and progress!
Surfed a couple spots between Clarke ave and reef rd yesterday. Paddled out at first light with almost no one out. Surfed until peak high tide then took a small break before getting back in there. Caught some super fun waves. Some sneaker rights in there between all the lefts. And some clean tubes to dry sand wipeouts. Great fun. At work for the rest of the week. Hope u guys score some.
SB is looking fun, waist high with consistent bigger sets, lots of peaks. The wind looks to be shifting more northerly, confirmed by the last FWYF1 buoy reading. If I could I would have gone out, stuck in the office until 5pm.
Full on choppy chop. UGHyuck, after yesterday no thanks. Maybe tomorrow when I come down.
peace and progress!
surfed for the first time in about a year. i had fun around surfside at 11am. i made it down to 4th st by 2pm and liked it better at surfside. i'm cut in 4 places from my patch jobs on old funboard. peace.
I just moved to Miami for grad school and am hurting to surf, but I have no car! Are there any car owning sufers in the Key Biscayne area that have spare room on the next trip north? If so, give me a shout at teddyallen@yahoo.com . I just got a bike in the mail today (although it arrived bent!) so I am hoping to pedal over to SB for some chop this week.
Thank you!
The more you know, the less you need...
LOL!
".....so I am hoping to pedal over to SB for some chop this week." (from Key Biscayne) No wonder you named yourself Bonzai! Good luck to ya. You earned a few core score points.
Sorry, late post,
Haulover south side 1/2mile down or so, yesterday morning, high tide had one working section making dredging shore break lefts, but they were workable and I was by myself!
bonzai. buy a panga and u can shoot from the key to sobe pretty quickly. might even find some secret reef breaks on the way
Any surf on south beach? report?
Standard wind chop waves today for sofla. Best call would be to pick your favorite local chop break and work it the best you can. 15 to 20 knots onshore gives us thigh to waist and the upcoming low tide should cause it to break everywhere so, enjoy.
Still underlying swell in SPB, surfed delray solid stomach to shoulder with some head high peaks. Slight drift, but alot of paddling, very consistent from 130 to 330 today. Some chunkly long lefts between sets on the mid-break.
Haulover South, parked myself 15 feet inshore of the second bouy and had fun yesterday from 5 to 7 pm. Some long lefts showing with rides connecting to the inside in waist high sets. Even with the wind chop you could still detect the swell racing south. Some rare head high faces showing further out than the jetty but no one in position to capitalize. Buried the nose on the take off on the biggest face of the day and totally missed it. The string of profanity that followed would have made some former compatriates proud. Agro fisherman not so quietly complaining about all the surfers taking up their parking spaces, which was a nightmare. 1 against five, I decided to not respond and minimize the chances of any vandelism occuring on me or worse yet my truck. Good day overall.
Bonzai-
It's J from RSMAS. I've been studying for midterms all week but mostly looking at surf reports on my laptop. I'm finished today and looking to get out to SB tomrrow and Friday. Hit me up at my school address, jherlan@...
Morning visual at SB, messy conditions this morning with some drift still in the water. I was hoping the winds would be easterly as the buoy was showing east winds when I last checked it last night, but the wind seems to be playing tag from NE to E and back to NE. Definitely stronger sustained winds and more size than yesterday, and yesterday afternoon had some chest + sets.
Stuck in the office doing the 9-5, hopefully the winds will stay in the 25kt range for the rest of the day and veer east once and for all. Hope everyone gets wet.
winds still honking E/NE on Fowey 25-29 knots as of 11:00am report
Most spots looking in the chest/shoulder and don't discount plus sets.
Approx low tide at Haulover Inlet is 6:30pm (READ: THE INLET) Have fun my friends...
Haulover? never heard of it
Pray For Surf.......to understand the ocean's greatness you have to get wet.......Who Goes to Haulover Anyhow...Place is a perfect place for you and a few friends.

I will have some Video up from when this Swell was clean on Sunday soon..
Known Parking Lot Breakdown -
~50 spots
They charge $1/hr. = $50/hr
Lot open 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. = 16 hours
= $800/day if it's full all day
= $292,000 per year for Bal Harbour
+ tickets that they will write for not paying (20/wk x 50 x $30 = $30,000)
Realistically -
Average 70% full = $560/day
Average 300 days used = $168,000/yr
And in a bad case -
30% full = $240/day
Average 200 days used = $48,000
Got to hang out with Nico from Machapu Adventures and Ekolu Kalama, the SUP champ from Molokai, after surfing waist to chest fun chop at said parking lot w/Bfins. We watched some sick vid of surfing at Chicama and SUPing at Teahupo'o. Check out insane SUP skills here - www.ekolukalama.com/
If any knows a good spot ~ Ekolu also plays Hawaiian guitar and is looking to jam out somewhere and share some aloha. He'll be around through Sunday. Post up..

An advisory for Sunny Isles Park-163St. & Collins Park-21 St. has been issued because two consecutive samples taken at each beach exceeded the USEPA recommended standard for enterococci, a geometric mean of 35 colony-forming units per 100 ml of marine water.
Great, now its working its way down to South.
chest high+ funnies @ HH Have a great time getting a parking spot...
Made the trek to Stuart this morning, was so good to get wet, but better to get some friggin turns in, there were some really fun chunks'o chop to rebound off of,
So over due, Hope everyone got some
good seeing you CRSurf the last couple days...Not like Asuchillo, but in the same breath, its nice to be home and being able to get wet in some windchop..lets hook it up soon in at a north beach establishment..Normans, Sandbar, etc....
It was bigger Tuesday. Size seems to be dropping.
any SB visuals other than the cams?
cam is stuck on an image from yesterday.
surfed this am a lot smaller still a few but if i had time i would go up north a little (boca area)
just got out of the water at South. Surfed 10 till just before noon. Not as big as yesterday, drops not as steep either, more mushy, but still some fun, short, rides to be had.
Anyone thinks it'll be better now with the lower tide? K, if you were surfing the highest tide of the day and got something, there may be something left out there for us unfortunate 9 to 5ers. X my fingers.
Pretty fun out there knee-plenty of waist. If you are patient you will get some nice ones lets hope it sticks around.
Fun waves this afternoon in North Miami. Plenty of chest high+ waves coming through. Seemed to have underlying swell.
Winds are forecasted to diminish. Most likely game over.
I found some chunk up in Fort Lauderdale. A pier didn't help line it up at all, so it was a quick head high drop, maybe a cutback, and then SLAM into the sandbar. I'll take it, since who knows when the next swell is coming...
The ship 'Ocean Watch' is sailing around the world and right is based at Bicentenial Park. Come by Saturday 12-4 to check out the boat and see a photo journal of the trip. Surfrider will be representing.
Caught some thigh to waist high action in NMB this afternoon. Great way to end the day.
Successfully made the first outing on the bike with surf racks from Key Biscayne to SB...and LIVED! Only 50min. Found some waist to occasional chest drops that quickly diminished as the late afternoon rolled in. Got my first chance to surf the opaque turquoise green Miami waves. FUn surf, fun crowd...Thanks Poseidon.
The more you know, the less you need...
I'll second that chest + in N.M. from Mr.B. Where were you, anyway? I didn't see you.
Damn fun today! Wasn't expecting that! Marine forecast kept changing; seas increasing, seas decreasing??? Definitely didn't decrease because I heard it was much smaller earlier...
4 straight days of waves - I'm not complaining...
Bonzai - I have a racing bike otherwise I'd be doing the same thing. But that had to be a workout against that wind...
Hope everybody had a chance to get wet...
~peace!~
Glad everyone is getting waves. This is more typical of this time of year. We have a low east of the Bahamas that bears watching as well as a remnant low near Jacksonville. A bit of East wind fetch with diminishing winds may bring fun and cleaner surf above the Bahama shadow Fri/Sat.
Slider, I was out from 4:30 till 6:15 yesterday. Not too crowded at all. Just a couple friends sharing waves.
Surfed 2-3rd street yesterday just before dark, form 6-730, not too bad a little disorganized about waist high, was hoping for a full moon last night to do some night surfing!
Pray 4 Surf!
First of all sorry this is off the surf report topic, I am going to Costa Rica in 2 weeks, I havent been there for a while, do i need to bring some type of rack system for the rental cars there or do they all have rack systems and if not what rack system do I buy, only taking 2 boards so a single type rack system will do...answers greatly appreciated!
Pray 4 Surf!
Surfrider crew heading down to CR in three weeks as well -Josue , Lou, Mike A, Greg from CR surf and Wyatt. We had the same deal , rack or no rack. In my experience if you rent a car bring soft racks. If you rent an SUV/4x4 it will probably already have racks but its not guaranteed. Bring soft racks as well. Some integral racks are curved and make multiple board placement difficult . Two boards and you are fine. You can ask your rental co specifically for racks (usually on an SUV) . They are used to renting to surfers. We are going have to contend with mulitple boards and an SUP. Anyhow you can reach Gregorio at CR surf and he can help you with any questions . He is the man for CR trips although he will tell you to just rent boards there . I prefer to always bring my own boards since I know their nuances and balance points.
most 4x4's have racks down there. make sure u confirm this with your rental agency. so with the racks that come with the car, all u need is some sort of tie-down (straps, bunjie cords, rope, whatever works for u). jealous. i spent all of august down there, i love that place. check playa negra if u get a solid SW swell and you like right hand tubes.
on the domestic front -- surfline forecast calling central florida to be 3-4 ft. plus with fair-good conditions on saturday. weekend warriors unite!!
Thanks for the reply! it would be cool to hook up with u guys down there I am going solo on this trip as far as surfing, 2 of my friends pulled out, p.s. what car rental are u guys going with? also do u think these would work? http://www.surfboardracks.com/soft-racks/wrap-rax.html
Pray 4 Surf!
I'm praying for some Saturday action. Thanks for the possible positive outlook Pete. Happy friday everyone.
BigO - the rental choices I can help you get are here - Rent 4x4. All SUVs that these companies use have racks unless you request a vehicle without them. So you should be good with just straps, either FCS or Dakine make quality ones, which you can get at any of the surf shops that advertise on this site (IWS, F1rst, Liquid Tube). Send me an email from the CRSURF site if you want help with the reservation.
~~~surfed mid-MB w/Wyatt til dark... waist to chest crap, now I'm spoiled....
Thanks for the reply CRsurf, I have been looking at your site, thanks for the info.
Pray 4 Surf!
Please be advised that the beach advisory for Collins Park-21 Street, Miami Beach has been lifted. The Advisory for Sunny Isles Park-163 Street is still in effect however.
Anyone care to venture a guess as to upcoast conditions tomorrow?
Not quite like this...
http://www.surfline.com/video/featured-clips/mundaka-on-fire-oct-...
Mundaka, how it should be... Take a look at the poor sponger right around 2:20 in.
~G
Good morning all,
Looks like central florida is the place to be today for some action. Too far for me today... later...Perhpas I am wrong-this is just my take of it today...
I would wait untill later when the offshores groom the waves (winds onshore at the moment). Tomorrow morning should bring the goods in Central Fla. 3-4-5 ft at 8 sec spells fun peaks and perfect for most sandbars
Sick vid of Mundaka.
Mundaka = yet another reason why god is a goofy-foot.... Bukit, Chile from all the stuff I have seen from Pete here, Peru, Florida (to a lesser extent obviously) etc. Perhaps I am biased because I am a goofy foot myself but the quality of all these lefts speak for themselves... I have not even checked my usual spots after I decided not to go upcoast for fear of having missed it-lol.
Later all...
Yea I'm kinda jealous of goofy footers. I have seeen waves just like those in the video in Chile.
Sebi Inlet: waist to shoulder peaks clean this morn, warm/sunny all day, lots of fun waves. High tide was at approx 1 pm & killed it. Palm beaches this past Sun was bttr. not much left up here
watching that low pressure coming from the western atlantic for the end of the week.. what do you think Pete? should be open another threat?
Lately the weather patterns have not allowed these lows to form into anything significant tropical so I would not bank on it but some winds might stir up the seas if we are lucky.
NE swell on tap for the end of this week. Stay tuned...
from your mouth to God's ears Mr. B.... We need a good season because tropical season blew (no pun intended)...
little waves at south this morning
