Mike Laas, former Surfrider Chapter Chair just passed his LEED exam. This means he now knows how to be a Leeder in Energy and Environmental Design.
The exam is a majoy pain. I am really glad I passed the first time because my family could not survive any more temper tantroms.
I'm SSSSSSoooo proud of you Mikey!

sick video Zap!! Nice (small) fun swell wave today in North Palm beach. The eagle has landed as they say.
Pic above is of Chile yesterday. It was pretty good (understatement). Surfed with Grant (twiggy) Baker and Greg long the Cali chargers. More pics to follow.
I too passed my Osteo exam (hardest thing I've ever done) . Three years coming down here are over and its bitter sweet.
Headed home manana.
I vouch for Terry Senate shapes, have pulled out a 7'6" pin down here several times with epic results.
Sweet pic, Pete. Stoked you've caught some great ones! Makes me wish I was in Peru right now (even though your shots are from Chile!).
NICE WORK PETIE PIE!
Now you can fix my shoulder and elbo-they have taken a step backwards!
peace and progress!
I just learned how to properly install a surf hero camera plug. Its a special plug at the nose to support a Surf Hero Camera. Ideal on a mini gun, gun, or funshape, lb's... I dont work for Surf Hero, but its a great product! Takes nice barrel shots. If you get a surf hero, we can do the plug for you! holla!

Not a big MJ fan but DAMN he had a ton of hits and they're not bad either.
Kid had a tough life.
peace and progress!
Wyatt, wasn't it you who threw up that thriller video not too long ago???
Could it be? Is senorita Ana being born down south of the Yucatan? The ensemble model shows her crossing the state and entering our wave window on Thursday. But only throwing swell off to the north. Probably just another computer pipe dream.
At this point I am just hoping for a wind event if we are lucky. But right now not looking good at all
lets keep sending some "we need surf off FL's coast" vibe into the universe and we shall receive. i'll post some pics from CR but none of the camera's were mine so i got to meet up w/ folks to download em. hermonsa was easy overhead, can close out there nasty-beach-break-style, but nice barrels too. playaita further south was big fun too. heard about 15 ft salty croc who lives there after i left. glad i didn't know bout him while i was there & more hpy he didn't go after me
I wouldn't expect waves from invest 93. July 4th weekend may give us small ridables as in East windchop (that is if the long term models hold up).
be careful with those crocs. last year about a week after i left the area someone got atacked by a croc at Tulin's rivermouth (south end of playa hermosa).
Those crocs are nasty, heard one euro got too close to the crocs at the riverbank before Jaco and got chewed.
You must be talking about that German dope. He had jsut recovered from a broken leg from getting too close to a cliff and fell. He was warned about the crocks too but thought he knew it all. Well he didn't think of the possibility of MUD on a riverbank and as soon as he got stuck those lazy, sun bathing crocks came to life in a heartbeat in a race to get to the fresh meat first!
No PT Pete, this week, Mason is in football camp and I have to drop him off in the AM.
NO WAVES EVER!
peace and progress!
I was Jk Wyatt! Waves soon! I consider hurricane season, like football season. If we're lucky we'll get about 10-12 storms to chase hopefully playoff season too???
Peace in the hood!
At this point I would be content with thigh high windchop.
amen to that carlos... its been more than three weeks since i got here and i have not even seen a ripple accross the state...
on another note i have a board with a tiny ding but i want a completly proffesional job cuz... well why not. thing is i left it a 1st surfshop more than a week ago and the guys havent even touched it so umm... i know there is no rush but... that would take 30 minutes at the most... i guess where im going with this is, carlos (cshapes) are you doing any ding repairs?
D, I was planning on doing a delivery to F1RST tomorrow. If you want, I can grab it tomorrow?
Or you can bring here? If its sunny I'll fix it on the spot? (305) 343-2307
cshapes is the man for ding repairs
carlos just take it with you if you see it and they haven't fixed it yet. i'll ring ya in a bit to see whats the deal. is a 5'7 round nose quad fish, with a girl drawn on the deck. thanks by the way!
It's been an entire week?!? How dare they! What a bunch of slackers!
New rules at F1RST: All ding repairs are 24 hour turnaround or we pay you!!!
..It's flat. Chris (Ding Repair Specialist Extraordinaire) went on vacation for a week. Last I checked there is no surf on the horizon. Oh yea, and it's been raining, making it reeeeal easy to work on dings. If there was a special request to have the job done within a certain time frame, it would have been completed.
Sorry for the rant, The flatness is getting to me...
-F1RST
WooHoo!! some ankle high wind swell Mid MB!!
there are waves if you know where to look
http://gulfster.com/
8 days in a row over on the w coast i know its a long drive but how many of you would drive 3 hours to the inlet to surf waist to chest waves with 500 other people right now sometimes its better to be on the road less traveled
to be honest no hate and no hurry F1RST, is just that it is my baby and i like to have her around where i can see her at all times haha. it would have been nice if they told me the ding repair guy was going to gone, then i would have then taken it somewhere else.
I mean dont tell a customer a week max for a tiny ding repair and then not have it ready past the time. you see what i mean? Regardless if this is miami I'm telling you cause i care about my local shop and i want it to always be there
No worries diego_d. just woke up no the wrong side of the bed and hadn't had my coffee yet.
Chris took off on a last minute trip to Abaco for the week. He usually does the small stuff at the shop on the daily, which usually turns around in 24-48. Since it's been raining, it's been tough to get dings to cure. Bigger jobs get outsourced to C Shapes
Thanks for supporting.
New Billabong shipments of the AI Platinum Boardies are in, and they're dope!

Don't have to go all the way to Costa to get taken out by a croc....

This just popped up on the Surfrider notes. Great story about how surf forecasting started!
http://www.newscientist.com/article/mg20227141.500-surfs-up-learn...
Interesting article. Even more entertaining is the comments section afterwards with some intelligent attempts at explaining sets (with fourier transforms etc) and some dumb stoner surfer attempts at explaining set waves .
MASSIVE swell set to hit Peru early next week. Starts out 14ft @ 18sec's (15-21+ foot faces), then fades and holds in the 6-10 foot range. Time to bust out the 10ft gun for Pico Alto or Peñascal. Good time for a "tactical strike" as the swell will stick around all week. Not seeing this swell - at least nearly the intensity as Peru scheduled to hit Central America, but there's bound to be good waves from it anyways. Wouldn't be a bad time to head in that direction either. Figure the swell in Central Am to arrive 3 days later than Peru (next Wed. or Thur.)
Hope someone here can capitalize on this baby. Wish I could...
Good eye Mr B.....Billabong has an invitational event going on for this HUGE swell actually. They said it was going down a few days ago but seems like no one wants to actually talk about surf related issues on here lately if their not directly attached to an environmental issue. Pete should make the trip over there if he can, waves will be well over 20 ft if things come through as said. Slaters on at the moment in brazil too.

I'm on the Caribbean side of Nicaragua this weekend, and then will be headed over to Las Cardones Lodge - www.loscardones.com - on the central Pacific side from Sunday to Tuesday. Hope the 6.2 fish works for the swell.
I'll have pics up fo sho...

Have fun in Los Cardones. These are all pics I took from the backyard of Los Cardones. 6.2 fish at The Point might be a bit crazy, depends on how well you can surf it in a left point tube. The beach break is fun although it is a long paddle to get out and very drifty.
http://dadecosurf.com/index.php?q=gallery&g2_itemId=3330
Yeah, all those left point tubes in Miami don't offer a lot of time to practice. I don't even remember the last time I surfed. Oh yeah - International Surf Day, ankle to knee in Cocoa Beach. I'll count my blessings just for being here.

Peter Mel is smoking everybody at the Pico Alto contest! Sick waves! The show is in between heats. Two guys had to be rescued and the waves are getting bigger. On the webcast it looks like its at least 20 feet and gnarly! Watch the next heat at:

Sick waves for the Pico Alto contest today. Tomorrow's looking to be pretty intense again.
Latest models are suggesting the possibility of a small/moderate NE fetch for us towards the end of this new week into the weekend. Stay tuned and keep your eyes peeled.
Pray For Surf.......Set up a New site to follow...Enjoy. I have a ton of pictures to up load when I get some time.

I was going crazy with lack of surf in the last two months so I bought a SUP. Now I actually look forward to flat days since I can go cruzing around on my SUP. Its a fun way to kill a flat day. Lot of sea life to be seen from above. Looking forward to those 1ft swells to ride on my SUP board mad speed, lol.
I got to get me one of those. Flat spell driving me batty. Had to resort to taking my towboard to quite waters park yesterday for fake surfing (on a ski rixen) .
Pico Alto is no joke, Surfed there in years back and managed to snag a few (yea it was scary) .
I'm ready to start a sacrifice.
Pico Alto contest semifinal just started. Greg Long, Mark Healy and Grant Twiggy Baker... Check out the big waves of Peru live @ http://www.billabong.com/pe/picoalto09/live.php

Pico Alto final will start soon:
http://www.billabong.com/pe/picoalto09
Peter Mel, Mark Healy, Greg Long, Carlos Burle, Javier Swayne and Ricardo Velarde will face off in 18 foot surf as Florida is flat! Grant Baker got the nastiest wave so far. He rode straight into a 20 foot close-out barrel!! I don't understand how he didn't make the final. Another Peruvian surfer, Jose Gomez, got an amazing wave in the last seconds of his heat, switch stances, carves, critical drop and still he didn't get a good score. Judges suck, but the action is unreal. The announcer sucks too, but the surf is amazing

Machapu, I did want to watch the contest, but the video feed is bad, Also they should have had a video feed from a boat. Big waves. hope Greg wins it!

NO WAVES EVER!
Who got bitten by a shark in Biscayne Bay this weekend?
peace and progress!
happy bday ^^^^
Congrats to Greg Long, he's one nice guy and charges. I gave him a few pointers too when I surfed with him a two weeks ago.
Is it Wyatt's B-day ? I know its that time of year.
not sure who got bit but i saw 3 ft & 4 ft nurse sharks in elliot key sandbar areas this past Sat. they didn't bother anyone from what i saw
Strange since nurse sharks rarely bite unless molested.
From what I hear Nurse Sharks are docile creatures...
From the pic above I can't tell who bites harder??
~G
From that picture above, I can tell who needs to be molested. Yum!
I would def take my chances there!!!!!
interesting little fetch off the North east pointing in our general direction......should the canadian high pressure stay put and a bunch of relatively weak lows ride out to sea perhaps we can get enough persistant fetch for a little swell by Friday in central fl and northern half of Palm beach county........
I don't see it - What the hell , gotta be optimistic.
