Sarah's Random Surf Story...

So the other day I was checking Surfline and noticed a surf alert was active for Florida. As I could have guessed, it was monster NE chop. These memories came rushing back, and I just felt this urge to share probably the best session I’ve had in Florida so far in my two years of surfing. I’ve been in Hawaii for about four months now, and although I’ve had many killer sessions here, none really compare to this one, so far at least. The day was May 7, the day before the epic May 8 swell. I had an AP exam that day, but right afterwards, I literally sprinted to my car and drove down I-95 to my homebreak, Delray. When I got there, I parked at my broken meter and ran out to check the waves. I saw something, and ran straight back to my car and changed. When I walked back out to the beach, I noticed there was NO ONE in the water. Waves in South Florida and no one on it? Delray seemed to be handling the windswell well, and it looked like a blast, provided I could paddle out past the impact zone without drifting to Boca. I decided to give the surf a try although I didn’t know whether I would make it out or not. I mean heres this skinny little chick trying to do what some guys couldn’t even do…I was scared and very doubtful…there had to be a reason why only one guy was out on solid chest to head plus waves. The second I dove into the water all this adrenline rushed through me and to my surprise, I made it out past the impact zone not only once but five more times that day. I surfed until I couldn’t lift myself up on my board anymore! The three other guys in the water with me shared my stoke and so did the lifeguards. One lifguard raised his arms for me as I got out of the water and just hooted for me. It was amazing. I loved that feeling. I walked away that day feeling on top of the world. Then I went on Dade Co Surf and was like I HAD THE BEST FUCKING SESSION EVER!
