Surfing Aruba
Posted August 1st, 2007 by Xavier
Might be heading to aruba last week of august/first week of september and was wondering if anyone had heard of any surf down there on that island?!?! Im tagging along with a buddy who is going down there for a business trip so was wondering if i should take the boards cuz im going to have plenty of down time!!![]()

Yes, there was some chop on the north side of the island from what I saw. I was there once and the winds were blowing over 25 the whole trip. Not the best conditions but could be fun.Check out wannasurf.com for break locations...http://www.wannasurf.com/spot/Central_America/Aruba/index.html
Surfed there many moons ago. Went on a family vacation when I first started surfing. There is chop on the windward side but not much else. Decent chop by the famous rock archway (pop tourist spot). Kinda like Sobe. You can get swellage during hurricane season but ususally very little. A novelty place at best. Like gump said winds prevail mostly onshore throughout the island due to a funneling effect from a volcano in the middle. Good windsurfing and sailing. Watchout for kamikazi cab drivers from the airport to the resort/hotels- worse than most asian countries.
The Beach Boys wrote a song about it...
im just going to keep an eye on it and see if its worth taking the boards or not. Thanks!!!
Well dude, if you were going to be there this weekend I would say you could score! With Dean passing to the North.rob
I suppose this is typical surf there
