Surf Forecast 8-11-2012
Forecast from bradswells
Posted August 11th, 2012 09:22 AMQuick update: A small swell from the ESE should start to show Saturday afternoon and last through Sunday at places above the Bahama Bank. The further you go, the better it will probably be. It should be in the waist plus range at the best spots. Winds look light and even offshore early. Could be fun if you really want to get wet!
The ITCZ has been active, though conditions haven't been the best to create wave makers for us. It should get a bit better as the season creeps on- at least there's a steady stream of waves moving off the Cape Verdes. One of 'em will pop eventually!

Thanks for the update.. Off to Melbourne : D
Long drive for a thigh high bomb
Swung by Melborne Sunday afternoon on way back from Orlando. Scored waist with occ chest high swell. Fun for summer time. Guess it picked up more as day went on and I got there just in time for the short lived up tick. Flatskie for us down here but central tomorrow and Friday might not be so but could get fun again.
Just rented some SUP's from Girard at SoBeSurf.com in south Cocoa Beach. Laid back quiet bungalows right on the river and 100 steps to the beach. Awesome day with tarpon jumping, no wind, and knee high waves to ride. Now I'm @ MCO flying to Costa Rica, where the swell should reach double overhead by Thursday. Negra, Ollies, Dominical, Hermosa, then Pavones. Will post pics when I get back. PURA VIDA!
Have fun, CR! Ya gonna score!!!!!!!! Stoked for you.
The computers predict Cape Verde storm Helene is expected to be named and quickly become a hurricane by this Tuesday, August 21st, with arriving swells at beaches along the north half of the Florida East Coast by August 28th, give or take two days. If you believe all that, you are way out on the same limb with me.....but it's that time of year!
Good luck in CR Greg. I will plug back in for Sept.
Oops, make that Cape Verde storm Isaac, not Helene.
Hello all,
Long time since I last dropped in. Spent July in Montauk where it was thigh to shoulder throughout the month of July- not great but surfed everyday. Great LB spot and good spot to LB if that is what you like. Most of all great beautiful place and the vibe is just great as EVERYONE surfs- groms, dudes, granpas etc. Not a thumping break but it breaks everyday so good place to learn to walk the LB etc.
Back to Florida surf! Next week Tues-Friday looks REAL GOOD for Central Florida with shoulder plus conditions and offshores are expected. Wednesday looks like the peak of the swell. Let's hope winds coorperate but long period swell is a given.
Still have memories of last year's summer perfect hurricane that delivered 10 ft swell in Delray in the best conditions I have seen in many years. This one wont be as big but plenty of fun should be had if conditions remain.
Later all,
Xavi
